Matt is captain of Tortola Sailing having bought it just before hurricane Irma hit in 2017. A year after the storm wiped out the entire fleet he has rebuilt it bigger and better than before with new boats and full time instructors.
His impressive sailing resume includes captaining charter vessels in the Med, offshore racing and teaching on both sides of Atlantic. With qualifications to teach sailing and power boating in RYA, ASA, IYT & US Sailing there isn't much Matt doesn't know about how to deliver the best courses!
Beneath the waves he's also a PADI Dive Master so if diving is your thing, he is only too happy to advise or to show you some of the best spots around.
Genevieve is a life enthusiast with a passion for sailing and the ocean. She holds a USCG Master Captain’s license, and is experienced with over 10,000 hours of accrued sailing in the waters of Belize, Bahamas, US and British Virgin Islands, Montana, California, and Florida.
Many students have enjoyed her teaching style with fun stories, friendly atmosphere, team building, adaptable teaching styles, and she welcomes all experience levels. She is also a certified American Sailing Association Instructor Evaluator, teaches 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, 114, and instructor courses.
Captain G loves sharing her love for ocean and freedom it provides with unique experiences. She will show you the best spots, exploring exotic bays and secluded untouched anchorages, to popular exciting hot spots.
Scott spent most of his life living in Vermont where half the year was spent coping with the snow, cutting firewood, and dodging the bears! He finally realized his dream of taking his passion for sailing into a career and went to instructor school! Scott is a USCG Captain, as well as an ASA and IYT certified instructor who enjoys sharing his love of the sport of sailing. Scott has a background in engineering so he's also our fleet manager keeping all of the boats sailing sweet!
Tom is from the UK and worked in forensic laboratories using DNA science to crack complex criminal cases. For years Tom would jump in his car and head to the coast whenever he could to jump in a boat, kite surf or freedive! When his partner suggested moving to the Caribbean, Tom didn't take much persuading! Not only is Tom a qualified instructor he's also a PADI Dive Master and is currently training towards his kite surfing instructor's certification.
Lloyd is from the UK where he has been a freelance sailing and navigation instructor for a number of years.
Qualified as an RYA, ASA and IYT instructor, Lloyd's love of sailing has also seen him work in Croatia and The Grenadines. He is an offshore sailing enthusiast, crossing the Atlantic in 2017, and a Training Skipper with Clipper Ventures in the UK, where he teaches people who will take part in a round the world race.
Lloyd's teaching style brings energy, enthusiasm, and fun whilst ensuring a safe learning environment.
When asked if he was related to the infamous Guthrie's, the pirate family depicted in the TV series ‘Black Sails’, his response was "Aye!”.
Andy is an RYA, IYT and ASA qualified instructor. He had been working professionally as a captain for the last 10 years; mainly in the Mediterranean, but also around the UK, Caribbean, and on the blue ocean. He describes his teaching style as relaxed with a few terrible jokes thrown in. Andy loves passing on his passion for sailing to others. He enjoys sports and sunshine, and will often be found taking an early morning paddle around the bay. He is looking forward to the many beautiful days in the BVI.
