Course Summary

This course is for advanced sailors who are wanting to build on their knowledge, gain more experience and miles. We will teach you to safely act as skipper and crew of a sailing vessel about 30 to 50 feet in length in coastal and inland waters, in any conditions. Alongside the practical sailing lessons, you will also build your navigation knowledge with the ASA 105 Coastal Navigation certificate.

Course Details

The 105/106 course is for advanced sailors who are wanting to build on their knowledge, gain more experience and miles. We will teach you to safely act as skipper and crew of a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters, in any conditions. Alongside the practical sailing lessons you will also build your navigation knowledge, with the ASA 105 Coastal Navigation certificate too.

The ASA 105 is a theory based course that will teach you the advanced navigational skills whilst the ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising is the practical part of this course. Taking into account tidal currents, variation and deviation you will learn how to navigate through the rocky grounds and tidal grounds of Chesapeake Bay followed by an overnight passage and even the possibility to get up to New York should the weather permit. You will not only learn how to navigate by paper charts you will also learn how to enter an unfamiliar harbour at night without a chart plotter! You will walk away from this course feeling you have more confidence about being a captain and taking care of your crew!
